TL;DR – Key Takeaways!
- Decide if you need a giant recruiting platform or just a quick way to screen candidates first along with add-on skills assessment features.
- Skip waiting for a custom quote from VidCruiter. Rival platforms show their prices online, starting as low as $13.99 a month.
- Mix one-way video interviews with actual skills assessments. See what a candidate can do, not just how confident they look on camera.
- Calculate your yearly cost based on how many candidates actually finish the process, besides looking at the monthly price.
- Only stay with VidCruiter if your company faces strict legal audits that require heavily documented hiring steps.
VidCruiter, a Canadian interview management system, does a lot: pre-recorded and live video, structured interviews, automated references, proctoring and its own ATS, all sold as modules in one suite.
That breadth wins enterprise and public sector contracts. It’s also why smaller teams (or even growing teams) start shopping for VidCruiter alternatives.
You came to fix one thing, usually a first-round candidate screen eating your week with nobody to hand it to. Instead, you end up in a sales cycle for a platform designed to run structured hiring across a whole organization.
Pricing hides behind a quote form (Capterra lists a $5,000-a-year floor). The setup takes four to eight weeks. And you pay for compliance tooling you won’t touch for a year.
So, ask the narrow question first: do you need a full hiring suite right now, or do you need to stop phone-screening every candidate?
The nine VidCruiter alternatives below help you answer that question. We sorted them by the job you need done and named every tradeoff, ours included.
The Best VidCruiter Alternatives at a Glance
At TestTrick, we pulled each figure from G2, Capterra and vendor pricing pages on October 23, 2026, so you compare like with like.
| Name | G2 rating | Capterra rating | Video format | Starting price | Free trial | Best fit for |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| VidCruiter (baseline) | 4.8 (282) | 4.6 (125) | One-way and live | Quote only; Capterra lists from $5,000/yr | Demo on request; Capterra lists a trial, terms unpublished | Regulated enterprises with audit-ready, multi-stage hiring |
| TestTrick | 4.7 (30) | 5.0 (2) | One-way video plus skills, coding and psychometric test | $35/mo, billed annually | 7 days, no card | SMEs that want video and skills tests in one proctored flow |
| Spark Hire | 4.7 (707) | 4.7 (110) | One-way and live | $249/mo billed annually ($299 monthly) | None on pricing page; demo | Small and mid-sized teams wanting live video and an ATS |
| Willo | 4.6 (283) | 4.7 (39) | One-way: video, audio, text, file | $59 per live role/mo (Lite) | None on pricing page; Capterra lists one | Teams hiring a few times a month, across languages |
| HireVue | 4.1 (255) | 4.5 (51) | One-way, live and AI interviewer | Quote only; Capterra lists from $35,000/yr | Demo only | Enterprises hiring thousands a year under compliance pressure |
| 1WayInterview | 5.0 (6) | No reviews yet | One-way: video, text, multiple choice | $13.99/mo, billed annually | 14 days, no card | Small teams wanting async screens without a sales call |
| interviewstream | 4.3 (47 | 4.5 (34) | One-way and live: video, voice, text | Quote only | Not listed; demo | Schools, hospitals and public agencies hiring in waves |
| WedgeHR | 4.6 (52) | Not listed | One-way only | $200/mo billed annually ($250 monthly) | “Try for free” (length unstated); 60-day cancel window on annual plans | SMBs, franchises, retail and hospitality wanting guided setup |
| Hireflix | 5.0 (442) | 5.0 (261) | One-way only | $75/mo, billed annually | First month free | Small and mid-sized teams wanting unlimited interviews at a flat price |
| Hirevire | 4.7 (29) | 5.0 (26) | One-way: video, audio, text, file, screen | $39/mo billed annually ($49 monthly) | 7 days, no card | Founders and solo recruiters wanting AI scoring on a budget |
A word of caution: review counts move weekly, and vendors quietly reshuffle their plans. Capterra and vendor pages don’t always agree, either.
Capterra shows a free trial for Willo and VidCruiter, yet neither vendor pricing page mentions one.
Treat the table as a starting map, not a contract. Before you commit, open each pricing page yourself, get the trial terms in writing, and ask sales for the full yearly cost with add-ons.
Best VidCruiter Alternative Tools for One-Way Video Interviews
1. TestTrick

TestTrick One-Way Video Interview
Best for SMEs and growing teams that want video interviews, skills tests and coding challenges in one proctored flow, minus the enterprise paperwork
VidCruiter sells you an automated enterprise recruiting system.
TestTrick, our own skills assessment platform, sells you the all-in-one hiring solution: the stage where a candidate stops talking about the job and starts proving they can do it.
(We built it, so read our take with the same healthy skepticism you’d bring to any vendor’s pitch)
One link carries your candidate through a one-way video interview, a psychometric profile, a cognitive ability test and a situational judgment test. You hear how they communicate, and you see how they think, side by side on one results page.
The powerful connection justifies its value in multi-department businesses where a polished resume tells you little: a finance team checking numerical reasoning, a marketing lead testing judgment under deadline pressure, or a supply chain manager in search of someone who can stay calm under pressure more than a confident handshake.
Hiring for IT jobs gets much faster and more efficient with TestTrick. Your qualified candidates move from the video screen straight into an auto-graded coding test, and code playback shows you how they reached the answer, not just what they submitted.
No back-and-forth calls, no second vendor; no candidate lost in the gap between two tools.
Here’s the part that deserves a slow read: TestTrick doesn’t restrict features by plan. AI scoring, proctoring and the full 500+ test library come with Starter just as they come with Business. You choose your volume, not your permission.
Anti-cheating proctoring stands guard on every plan, with webcam, gaze, audio and tab-switch checks feeding one trust score.
Flagged attempts don’t inflate your bill, and no per-role or per-candidate ceiling caps your openings. Your credit balance draws the only line.
G2 reviewers' rate TestTrick 4.7 out of 5 from 30 reviews, and Capterra shows 5.0 from 2. Next to VidCruiter’s 282 G2 reviews, our track record still looks young (a fair point to weigh before you commit).
Key features
- One-way video, psychometric, cognitive ability, situational judgment and coding tests under one candidate link
- 500+ ready-made tests across tech, sales, finance, customer support, HR, legal, data science and DevOps
- Layered proctoring with browser lockdown, webcam, gaze, audio and tab-switch detection on every plan
- Auto-graded coding tests with code playback for developer roles
- Editable AI scoring criteria, so grading follows your standard, not the software’s
- Candidate reports that break scores down by test, skill, psychometric profile and video transcript
- ATS integrations with Manatal, Lever, JazzHR and Jobvite
- Every feature on every plan, with only credits and seats changing
What to consider
- No live interviews, reference checks or built-in ATS, the corners where VidCruiter shines, so you’ll still need Zoom or Teams for the final round
- AI scoring skips answers to questions you record as video yourself. Text prompts keep scoring on
- Video answers cap at two minutes, which can feel tight for a senior candidate walking through a complex decision
- Each assessment holds up to five tests. Executive-level roles force you to pick the skills that matter most
- Starter’s 600 yearly credits average about 50 finished assessments a month, and hiring spikes need refills at $2 a credit
Pricing
TestTrick pricing stays plain:
- Starter: $35 a month ($420 billed annually) for 600 credits and 3 users
- Basic: $65 a month ($780 billed annually) for 1,200 credits and 5 users
- Business: $75 a month ($900 billed annually) for 1,800 credits and 7 users
- Enterprise: custom pricing built around your volume
A credit burns only when a candidate finishes, no matter if the assessment holds one video question or three tests plus a video round.
The 7-day free trial needs no card. Run the numbers against VidCruiter and the gap gets hard to ignore.
VidCruiter publishes no price list and third-party estimates put its entry point near $5,000 a year. Starter costs roughly a twelfth of that, and even Business lands under a fifth.
The trade: you give up VidCruiter’s live interviews, scheduling and referee chasing for deeper skill evidence and a bill you can predict.
For an SME hiring in bursts, or across several departments at once, TestTrick covers the screening stage without the enterprise price tag.
For a regulated employer that needs audit-ready records and a full recruiting suite in one contract, VidCruiter’s quote still earns its place on your shortlist.
2. Spark Hire

Spark Hire Homepage
Best for small and mid-sized teams where high-volume hiring is rare
Josh Tolan sketched the idea for Spark Hire in 2010 and launched it in 2012. The bulk of your candidates starts with a one-way video.
The qualified ones move to a live video call without booking a meeting room. In 2023, Spark Hire acquired Comeet, an ATS, and in 2025, rebranded it as Spark Hire Recruit.
Your job posts, resumes, video interviews, automated reference checks, and self-service scheduling are available in Spark Hire Recruit.
Against VidCruiter, you must look at your current hiring structure: do you have a large budget to entirely automate recruiting from the top of the funnel to the bottom, or just simplify the screening process?
VidCruiter answers the first with custom plans for large enterprises while requiring you to go through a sales team to get started.
Spark Hire answers it with published prices and a lighter setup, which suits a team of 50 far better than a team of 5,000.
Here’s the part that deserves a slow read: Spark Hire sells its pieces separately.
Meet covers one-way and live video; Recruit is the ATS, and the behavioral assessment comes as its own product. Buy video and assessments together on annual billing, and you pay $498 a month.
Recruit Growth bundles both with the ATS for $499. One extra dollar for a whole ATS: if you need one anyway, the choice almost makes itself.
Key features
- One-way and live video interviews on the same platform
- Spark Hire Recruit, a built-in ATS with AI resume review
- Automated scheduling, including panel scheduling on Recruit Growth
- Automated reference checks that contact previous managers for you
- Hiring-committee collaboration with comments, tagging and shareable candidate links, plus scorecards on Recruit Growth
- A behavioral assessment, priced separately from Meet
- ATS integrations, SMS invites, custom reporting on Recruit Growth, and SSO as an add-on
What to consider
- Add-ons such as API access, SSO, extra brand profiles and premium integrations (Workday, Dayforce, UKG Pro) can stretch the bill
- Every Recruit plan needs an annual contract
Pricing
Meet starts at $299 a month on monthly billing, or $249 a month billed annually.
Annual billing also removes the five-user, five-job ceiling and adds a Customer Success Manager.
Recruit Pro starts at $335 a month, billed annually, with basic automation, AI resume review, one-way interviews and a 200-candidate cap.
Recruit Growth starts at $499 a month, billed annually.
You will have access to a volume of 500 candidates along with advanced resume review, scorecards, behavioral assessments, advanced reporting and panel scheduling.
Recruit Enterprise is quote-only. Recruit starting prices apply to companies with up to 50 employees, and they climb as you grow.
For a growing team that wants screening, scheduling and an ATS for roughly $3,000 to $6,000 a year, Spark Hire gives you much of VidCruiter’s workflow without the enterprise paperwork.
For a few hires a year, or if you already love your current ATS, a lighter video-only tool will likely serve you better.
3. Willo

Willo Homepage
Best for HR teams hiring a few times a month, especially across borders and languages
Founded in 2018, Willo collects video, audio, text and file answers in bulk, and it speaks your candidates’ language, quite literally: the platform runs in 198+ languages.
With Willo, each candidate reads your questions in a language they’re comfortable with, so you judge their skills over their vocabulary.
That’s the moment Willo clicks for most global teams. Setup asks very little of you. Willo is self-serve: no salesperson, no admin team, no kickoff calls.
You sign up, build an interview from its 1,500+ structured assessments and templates, and send invites the same afternoon.
Willo Intelligence, its newer AI layer, transcribes answers, writes summaries, drafts role-specific questions and runs “Real Talk,” a check that flags answers that may lean on AI, shown as simple traffic-light indicators.
Willo garnered 4.6 out of 5 (from 283 reviews) on G2, praised for its asynchronous format for removing scheduling bottlenecks.
However, limitations regarding ATS integrations and candidate experience are a concern.
Key features
- 198+ languages for candidate-facing interviews
- Video, audio, text and file responses, collected in bulk
- 1,500+ structured assessments and pre-built templates
- Bulk CSV, email and SMS invitations
- Retake limits, timing controls and branded invites
- Team scoring per candidate, plus interview completion rate analytics
- Native ATS integrations with Greenhouse, Workday, Lever and Workable, 30+ integrations on Enterprise, and Zapier and Integrately on Lite
- ISO 27001 certification, GDPR compliance, enterprise-grade encryption and 2FA
What to consider
- Video screening only, so your resumes still need a separate home
- Lite caps you at five users and five roles, with invitations limited to 150 candidates per role
- Transcription, insights scoring, custom scorecards, full custom branding and broader integrations sit behind the Enterprise plan
Pricing
Willo gives you a 16-day free trial. Lite costs $59 per live role per month, pay-as-you-go with no contract.
With one role open, the math feels gentle. With four roles running at once, you’re at $236 a month.
Enterprise starts at $3,799 a year and comes with the reporting, governance and ATS connections a VidCruiter customer already expects, with a published starting price.
4. HireVue

Hirevue Homepage
Best for enterprises hiring thousands of people a year under compliance pressure
A college student named Mark Newman started HireVue in 2004 with a simple trick: he mailed webcams to remote candidates so they could interview from home.
Twenty-two years later, the South Jordan, Utah company says it has run more than 80 million interviews (HireVue).
For large companies, HireVue is a complete hiring platform: video, assessments, scheduling and AI screening, but at a heavier price with enterprise commitments.
Your candidates can record answers on their own time or join a live interview. Your hiring panel replays the recordings at their convenience. Self-scheduling is the feature that G2 reviewers praise more than anything else.
The AI Interviewer is a newer entrant: HireVue acquired it from Hireguide in March 2026, and it runs voice-based first screens around the clock.
HireVue holds 4.1/5 on G2 (from 255 reviews), mostly enterprise buyers, and 4.5/5 on Capterra (from 51). However, many Capterra reviewers are candidates rather than HR buyers, so G2 gives you the clearer view.
After a 2019 EPIC complaint to the FTC, HireVue dropped facial analysis in January 2021 (EPIC).
Key features
- On-demand and live video interviews with shareable recordings
- Voice-based AI Interviewer for 24/7 first screens
- Game-based, coding, language and job-simulation assessments
- Calendar sync and candidate self-scheduling
- Integrations with Workday, SAP SuccessFactors, iCIMS, Greenhouse and Oracle Taleo
- SOC 2 Type 2, ISO 27001, GDPR and FedRAMP security, with 24/7 support in 20+ languages
What to consider
- Support can feel thinner after implementation, according to a Capterra reviewer
- Setup takes about three months, according to G2 users
- ATS sync issues top G2’s complaint list, along with occasional call and audio glitches
- AI-assessed interviews carry compliance duties in Illinois and the EU
- Short prep windows and heavy automation can feel impersonal to candidates
Pricing
HireVue doesn’t publish prices, and there’s no free trial. You start with a demo. Its G2 listing shows Essentials from $35,000 a year for companies with 2,500 to 7,500 employees.
Enterprise and Premium serve larger organizations. Vendr data puts the average contract near $49,855 a year, plus $15,000 to $40,000 for implementation and a multi-year term (Pin).
Under 250 employees, a lighter flat-fee tool will likely serve you better. Between 250 and 2,500, it can work if your volume runs high and you negotiate hard.
Above 2,500, your per-interview cost drops, and the compliance features start paying for themselves.
5. 1WayInterview

1WayInterview Homepage
Best for small and mid-sized teams that want async screening without a sales call
VidCruiter feels like a full orchestra: live interviews, scheduling, reference checks and proctoring, all tuned for long, multi-stage hiring. 1WayInterview does just one simple job at a low cost.
You create a position, add video, text or multiple-choice questions, and share one link on LinkedIn, Indeed or your careers page.
Your candidates open it on a phone or laptop and record. No account, no download, no plugin (G2). If VidCruiter’s quote-first sales process and weeks-long rollout feel like too much formality for the roles you’re filling, you’ll want a closer look.
1WayInterview says you can share your first interview link in under 15 minutes. The AI screening is the part that saves you significant time. It transcribes video answers, checks every response against criteria you set, and labels each one Correct, Acceptable or Incorrect.
You can override any rating, or re-run the check in case you change your mind about what “good” looks like. Interview integrity gets a lighter touch than VidCruiter’s proctoring.
Instead of a webcam watching for tab switches, 1WayInterview relies on single-take recording, one-at-a-time question reveals and auto-start recording.
Inconvenience instead of spying, which your candidates may well appreciate.
G2 shows a perfect 5.0, but from only six reviews, as of May 2025. Capterra lists no reviews yet (Capterra). What those reviewers do say rings true for small teams.
One talent acquisition manager credits the tool with cutting time to close by over 40%, while wishing the analytics dashboard offered more depth.
Key features
- Async interviews with video, text and multiple-choice questions
- AI transcription and per-answer scoring you can override (SME plan and up)
- Branded interview links with your logo and privacy policy on every plan
- A built-in 9-stage candidate pipeline with scorecards and role-based team access
- No candidate login, downloads or installs, on desktop or mobile
- Downloadable candidate videos, so your data leaves with you
What to consider
- No live interviews, scheduling suite or reference checks, the areas where VidCruiter shines
- ATS integration arrives only on the top Unlimited plan
- Monthly interview caps on every tier, with short video retention on Starter
- A thin review history, plus mentions of overwhelming notifications, basic analytics and no weekend support
Pricing
Starter costs $19.99 a month for 30 interviews, SME $49.99 for 60 interviews with AI screening, Business $89.99 for 150, and Unlimited $299.99 with ATS integration and premium support. Pay annually and you save 30%, which drops Starter to $13.99 and SME to $34.99 a month (G2).
Every plan runs month to month, and the 14-day free trial needs no credit card.
VidCruiter publishes no prices and reportedly starts around $5,000 a year, so even 1WayInterview’s Unlimited plan costs less than you’d likely spend just to get through VidCruiter’s door. The trade: you give up VidCruiter’s breadth for speed and a bill you can actually read.
6. interviewstream

interviewstream homepage
Best for schools, universities, hospitals and public agencies that hire in waves
Founded in 2003, interviewstream first earned its stripes on college campuses, where it pioneered mock interview technology. The goal was making student rehearsal simpler before facing real employers.
In January 2017, RIVS, a digital interviewing company, acquired it. The merger unites the two operations as one: college students can practice for interviews and businesses can hire workers.
interviewstream now serves 900+ organizations, from Johnson & Johnson and Johns Hopkins to K-12 school districts (CB Insights). Candidates record answers on their own time and book their own live interview slot from a calendar that syncs with yours.
interviewstream handles mass interview days and virtual career fairs. Its structured interview guides keep every candidate on the same playing field. Companies whose hiring calendar deals with a series of floods find deep understanding here.
interviewstream holds 4.5 out of 5 (from 34 reviews) on Capterra, with ease of use at 4.6, and 4.3 out of 5 (from 47 reviews) on G2. Reviewers praise how much faster they can screen dozens of candidates, love the side-by-side rating scales, and often mention responsive round-the-clock support.
As a VidCruiter alternative, interviewstream targets a career center, a school district, a healthcare system or a government agency where hiring arrives in big seasonal waves.
Key features
- On-demand video interviews that candidates record on their own schedule
- An automated scheduler that syncs with recruiter calendars for self-booked slots
- Hiring event management for mass interview days and virtual career fairs
- Interview Builder with structured guides and industry-specific question templates
- AI video summaries and auto-generated candidate insights
- Mock interview tools for university career centers
- Shared rating scales so several reviewers can score candidates side by side
What to consider
- The admin side can feel a little old-school, with terminology that takes time to learn
- The scheduling calendar sometimes needs a manual refresh to show live availability
- The candidate experience can lag on older phones, which may confuse first-timers
- You can’t easily reuse one customized interview stream across several job categories
- Occasional recording failures mean re-sending invites, and some ATS connections feel disjointed
- Only global admins can delete old templates, so clutter from former teammates tends to linger
Pricing
interviewstream doesn’t publish prices or offer a free plan. You’ll need a call with sales for a custom quote, and contracts typically target mid-market and enterprise buyers. As a small business owner screening a few candidates a month, we don’t recommend it.
A custom-quote contract built for mid-market teams will likely cost more than you need, and a self-serve tool with public pricing, such as 1WayInterview or Willo, will get you started faster and keep your budget breathing easy.
7. WedgeHR

WedgeHR Homepage
Best for SMBs, franchises and high-volume retail or hospitality teams that want a guided one-way screening layer
If VidCruiter builds the whole hiring house: live interviews, scheduling, references, proctoring and deep grading matrices, WedgeHR builds one room: the screening room, and furnishes it with a dedicated customer support team that stays on call round the clock.
Founded in 2015 in Grand Rapids, Michigan, WedgeHR set out to fix the same headache as everyone else on the list: scheduling friction. Its twist is the human touch. Instead of handing you software and a login, the team walks you through setup and keeps 24/7 support open for both your recruiters and your candidates.
VidCruiter courts government, defense and heavily regulated enterprises, where strict, structured interviewing and audit-ready scoring are the norm.
For WedgeHR, speed and convenience matter more than compliance paperwork.
WedgeHR holds 4.6 out of 5 from 52 reviews on G2, with most reviewers coming from mid-market companies, and around 4.4 out of 5 on Capterra.
Reviewers praise the clean interface, the hours saved on scheduling, and the shared review process that even lets non-HR managers rate and comment on the same candidates.
Key features
- Custom interview playlists built from text prompts, your own recorded questions or templates
- A 150+ pre-recorded question library to get you started fast
- Automated transcripts and scannable AI summaries of video responses
- Shared reviewing, so hiring managers outside HR can rate and leave notes together
- A browser extension that works inside your ATS, plus native integrations with Greenhouse and HiringThing
- Email, SMS and open-link invitations with automated reminders
- 24/7 support for your team and your candidates
What to consider
- No live interview feature, so you’ll still need Zoom or Teams for the next round
- No automated ranking against a rubric; your team does the final rating
- The entry plan caps you at two users and three active jobs, without custom branding or full transcripts
- Personality insights (Candidate Signals) and native ATS sync only unlock on Pro
- Lighter structure than VidCruiter, so regulated employers may miss formal grading matrices
Pricing
Here’s where WedgeHR quietly wins you over. VidCruiter keeps its prices behind a sales form, and third-party estimates put its starting point around $5,000 a year, usually on an annual contract, with modules and add-ons nudging the total higher.
You only learn the real number after a demo, a quote and a few rounds of back-and-forth.
WedgeHR flips that experience. You see every plan on the website, pick the one that matches your team, and know exactly what lands on your card each month:
- Core: $200 a month billed annually ($250 monthly) for 2 users and 3 active jobs
- Pro: $360 a month billed annually ($450 monthly) for 10 users and 10 active jobs, with transcripts and Candidate Signals
- Enterprise: $730 a month on a yearly contract
You get a free trial, and annual customers can cancel within 60 days as well.
Run the numbers and the gap gets real. Core comes to $2,400 a year, roughly half of VidCruiter’s reported entry price, and you can start monthly instead of signing a year-long contract on day one.
The trade is in the caps. WedgeHR prices by seats and active jobs, so a growing team climbs tiers quickly: a third user or a fourth open role pushes you from Core to Pro, and Pro on monthly billing already reaches $5,400 a year.
VidCruiter’s custom quote can bundle more users, stages and modules in one package.
For startups or small businesses, WedgeHR’s published pricing keeps you in control. Once you scale faster, put a WedgeHR Pro or Enterprise price side by side with a VidCruiter quote before you commit.
8. Hireflix

Hireflix Homepage
Best for small and mid-sized teams that want unlimited one-way interviews at one flat price
Antonio Gonzalez and Nacho Gonzalez Barros founded Hireflix in Barcelona in 2018.
The idea was simple: you record your questions once, your candidates answer on their own time, without spending a week trading calendar invites (GetApp).
The pricing model is the part that makes VidCruiter shoppers sit up. Free of per-role fees, seat limits, and response caps.
Run hiring for one role or forty this quarter, and your bill stays the same. Your tight budget makes you hesitate to open a new role and pay for it. You’ll feel that weight lift here.
Your candidates won’t need an app, an account or a login. Just open a link, record in the browser and done. You get per-question control over thinking time, answer length and retakes, plus automatic invites and reminders by email, SMS or WhatsApp.
Hireflix holds a perfect 5.0 out of 5 from 261 reviews on Capterra, far more than most tools in its class.
Reviewers keep coming back to the same two words: easy and supportive.
Hireflix transcribes answers, but it won’t score, rank or summarize them. 60 people completed your interview?
You’re watching 60 sets of recordings. For a team hiring a few people a month, that’s a pleasant afternoon. For a team buried in applicants, the flat price won’t fix the real bottleneck: your time.
Key features
- Browser-based recording with no app, account or candidate login
- Per-question thinking time, answer length and retake limits
- Automatic invites, reminders and confirmations by email, SMS or WhatsApp
- Shareable review links so hiring managers can rate without an account
- Automatic video transcriptions and downloadable videos
- Native integrations with Lever, BambooHR, Teamtailor, Recruitee, JazzHR, SmartRecruiters, Greenhouse, Workable and Ashby, plus a GraphQL API, Zapier and Make
- Custom branding and custom domains on every plan, with white label available
What to consider
- Transcripts only, with no AI scoring, ranking or summaries, so review time grows with every applicant
- One-way video only: no live interviews, resume screening or skills tests
- Reporting stays basic compared with VidCruiter’s structured scorecards
- The headline price applies only when you pay a full year up front
Pricing
- Small: $75 a month billed yearly for companies under 50 employees
- Medium: $150 a month billed yearly for companies with 50 to 250 employees
- Custom: quoted for larger companies, agencies and high-volume processes
Every plan includes every feature, unlimited users, unlimited positions and unlimited responses. You get a one-month free trial, and NGOs and companies under two years old can get 20% off their first year.
Put that next to VidCruiter’s reported starting point of around $5,000 a year. The Small plan costs $900 a year, and even Medium lands at $1,800.
You trade VidCruiter’s live interviews, scheduling and grading depth for a bill you can predict to the dollar.
9. Hirevire

Hirevire Homepage
Best for founders and solo recruiters who want AI scoring on a startup budget
Sanat Hegde, who spent a decade running a web development agency, started Hirevire in India in late 2021 with longtime collaborator Nikhil Kachare.
He received hundreds of developer applications, but checking how each candidate explained their past projects took too much time.
Your candidates can answer by video, audio, text, file upload or screen recording, all in one interview.
Every answer gets transcribed and scored from 1 to 5 against weighted factors you define, with the AI’s reasoning right there for you to check or overrule.
Don’t want to write the scorecard yourself? Let the AI draft it from your job description, then edit it.
The knockout questions are the quiet hero. Applicants who miss a must-have get filtered before they ever press record, and those rejected responses don’t eat into your interview allowance. On a plan with tight limits, that early filter saves you real money.
Here’s where VidCruiter buyers feel the contrast. VidCruiter asks you to commit to a structured, multi-stage enterprise process. Hirevire asks for $39 and five minutes.
Hirevire holds 5.0 out of 5 from 26 reviews on Capterra, with users praising the easy setup and helpful support.
Ideal for a founder, a solo recruiter or a tiny agency hiring one role at a time, when you want AI to do the first pass so you only watch the final answers. Plus, you can pause your subscription whenever you aren’t hiring, which saves you money if your hiring comes in waves.
If your business has several hiring managers who each need their own logins, you run many roles at once, or you need live interviews and formal compliance scoring.
There, Hireflix’s unlimited flat rate or VidCruiter’s full suite should be considered.
Key features
- Video, audio, text, file, screen-recording and multiple-choice answers in one interview
- AI transcripts in 90+ languages, AI scorecards, candidate summaries and question generation on every paid plan
- 1-to-5 scoring against weighted factors you define, with visible reasoning
- Knockout questions that screen applicants before they record
- Control over retakes, plus a one-to-three-month pause option that stops billing straight away
- Custom domains and sending from your own mail server on Professional and Agency
What to consider
- Strict usage caps: the entry plan covers one active job, one user and 300 interviews a year
- A second role or a hiring manager’s login pushes you to the next tier

Pricing
Essentials pricing is $39 a month billed yearly ($49 monthly) for 1 active job, 1 user and 300 interviews a year.
Paying for Professional at $99 a month billed yearly ($149 monthly) gives you access to 5 jobs, 5 users and 1,200 interviews.
To get access to 20 jobs, 15 users and 12,000 interviews, the Agency plan at $199 a month billed yearly ($249 monthly) is designed.
There’s a 7-day free trial with no card required, but no permanent free plan.
Against VidCruiter’s reported $5,000-a-year starting point, Essentials comes to $468 a year, about a tenth of the cost, and you can pay month to month.
The catch hides in the limits: the moment your team grows past one job or one user, you climb tiers, so map out your next six months of hiring before picking a plan.
What Each VidCruiter Alternative Costs Over a Year
Monthly prices make most tools look cheaper than they really are. To get a fair comparison, we calculated the yearly cost for each basic plan and compared it to VidCruiter’s minimum price of $5,000.
We pulled prices from vendor pages in October 2026, on annual billing unless noted. Quotes vary, so read each row as a starting estimate.
Yearly Cost Against VidCruiter’s $5,000 Starting Point
Every competing platform with a public price is cheaper than VidCruiter’s lowest price, and most cost only a small fraction of it.
The actual price gap is even larger than what the table shows. While VidCruiter starts at $5,000, adding features like live interviews, automated scheduling, or reference checks will drive that cost much higher.
On the other end of the scale, HireVue is the most expensive option, with a starting price of $35,000 (Capterra), roughly seven times more than VidCruiter’s base rate.
| Tool and plan | Yearly cost | Saved vs VidCruiter’s $5,000 | What the price includes |

| TestTrick Starter | $420 | $4,580 (92%) | 600 credits, 3 users, video plus skills tests and proctoring |
| Hirevire Essentials | $468 | $4,532 (91%) | 1 job, 1 user, 300 interviews a year, AI scoring |
| Willo Lite (one role all year) | $708 | $4,292 (86%) | 1 live role, 150 candidates per role |
| Hireflix Small | $900 | $4,100 (82%) | Unlimited roles, users and responses |
| TestTrick Business | $900 | $4,100 (82%) | 1,800 credits, 7 users, every feature |
| WedgeHR Core | $2,400 | $2,600 (52%) | 2 users, 3 active jobs |
| Spark Hire Meet | $2,988 | $2,012 (40%) | One-way and live video, unlimited jobs and users |
| VidCruiter | From $5,000 (Capterra) | Baseline | Quote-only, modules priced separately |
| HireVue | From $35,000 (Capterra) | Costs about 7x more | Enterprise video, AI and assessments |
| interviewstream | Quote only | Not published | Hiring events, scheduling, live and one-way video |
Why the Cheapest Plan Isn’t Always the Cheapest Per Candidate
Sticker price tells half the story; volume and review time tell the rest. 1WayInterview Starter works out to about $0.47 per interview.
Hirevire Essentials lands at $1.56. TestTrick Starter costs $0.70 per finished assessment, with skills tests included.
Hireflix’s flat $900 gets cheaper with every applicant, yet your team still watches each video unscored.
Multiply review hours by your recruiter’s hourly rate and add the plan price. The cheap tool can quietly turn into the pricey one.

FAQs
What is the cheapest VidCruiter alternative?
1WayInterview has the lowest published entry price on our list. It costs $13.99 a month billed annually, or $167.88 a year, for 30 interviews a month.
TestTrick Starter costs $420 a year and adds skills tests and proctoring (TestTrick pricing). Hirevire Essentials costs $468 a year with AI scoring.
All three cost less than a tenth of VidCruiter’s reported $5,000 floor.
Which VidCruiter alternative combines video interviews with skills tests?
TestTrick, our own platform, does. It pairs one-way video with psychometric, cognitive, situational judgment and coding tests in one proctored link. Plans start at $35 a month, billed annually. HireVue also pairs video with game-based, coding and language tests, but at enterprise prices. Spark Hire sells a behavioral test as a separate product next to its video plans.
Which VidCruiter alternative offers both live and one-way interviews?
Spark Hire runs one-way and live video on the same platform, from $249 a month billed annually. Spark Hire Recruit adds an ATS, reference checks and scheduling. HireVue and interviewstream cover both formats too, though both work on custom quotes. Most other tools on our list focus on one-way screens. They hand live rounds to Zoom or Teams.
Can I keep VidCruiter and use another tool for first-round screening?
Yes, and many teams do. Keep VidCruiter for structured live interviews and late stages. Then run first-round screens on a lighter tool with published pricing. Candidates who pass move into VidCruiter through your ATS or integration. The hybrid setup cuts costs at the top of the funnel. You keep VidCruiter’s audit-ready structure at the bottom.
Does VidCruiter connect to Zapier?
Not natively, as far as we can tell. Hirevire found no VidCruiter app in Zapier’s directory, and a 2025 Capterra reviewer asked for one. VidCruiter builds its own links to big HR systems instead, such as Workday, SAP and Dayforce. If your stack runs on Zapier or Make, Hireflix and Hirevire support both.
